Why now
Across the Gulf, national cybersecurity frameworks now set baseline controls for government bodies, critical infrastructure and, increasingly, their suppliers. In Saudi Arabia the National Cybersecurity Authority publishes the Essential Cybersecurity Controls (ECC) and the Operational Technology Cybersecurity Controls (OTCC). The UAE applies its Information Assurance Regulation (the successor to the NESA standard), and Qatar's National Cyber Security Agency maintains the National Information Assurance Standard (NIAS).
The network measures they share are familiar: protect the perimeter, control access, encrypt communications, segment networks and secure remote access. None of these frameworks prescribes a brand of hardware — they ask for a demonstrable level of protection. Which cybersecurity frameworks apply in the Gulf?
Each state has its own. Will this appliance make us compliant?
No hardware can. The appliance gives you segmentation, secure access, encryption and logging to build on. Compliance also needs risk assessment, policies, configuration, monitoring, training, vendor management and incident response.
